LORD MAYOR OF PARRAMATTA TURNS FIRST SOD ON NEW PUBLIC WORKS FOR ERMINGTON.

Parramatta Lord Mayor Cr Scott Lloyd last Friday turned the first sod on a $3.8 million public works project at the Royal Shores development at Ermington.
The Royal Shores at Ermington Project, part of a major undertaking by PAYCE and Sekisui House Australia, includes 632 units on a 20,000 square metre site on River Road beside the Parramatta River.

The public works project started today is part of an agreement, known as a Voluntary Planning Agreement (VPA), between the council and the developers.
Also attending the event were PAYCE's General Manager, Dominic Sullivan and Jessica Lane and from Sekisui House Australia, its CEO and Managing Director, Toru Abe and Chief Financial Officer, Kohji Fukano.
- The works include:
- Construction of a children's playground within Halvorsen Park
- Landscaping and embellishment works within the Pocket Parks
- Resurfacing, kerb and guttering, construction of a traffic island, drainage works and line marking of George Kendall Riverside Car Park
- Construction of two observation decks within River Park adjacent to the Parramatta River
- Pedestrian lighting between the George Kendall Riverside Car Park and Parramatta River along an existing shared path within the park
Improved amenities benefit residents and the broader community - Dominic Sullivan
PAYCE General Manager Dominic Sullivan said the work would provide improved community amenities for not only residents but the broader community.
"Our goal is to not just build very liveable apartments, but to develop new communities and improving local infrastructure and facilities is a very important element of that objective," he said.
"Parramatta City Council has shown a great willingness to negotiate an outcome that is a win for the local community and the project."
"This location on the Parramatta River offers a stunning lifestyle and it is important that residents and the public can enjoy everything it has to offer.
Excavation work ready for the construction of nine buildings on the site has been completed.
The project is due to be completed by the end of the next year.

The Mayor of Auburn, Clr Ronney Oueik, to mark the commencement of construction of JEWEL, today turned the first sod of earth.
Adjacent to the Sydney Olympic Park ferry terminal at Wentworth Point, an iconic gateway development, Jewel is the latest apartment development project by PAYCE.

The project sets a new benchmark in urban development and sits front and centre of the NSW Government's long-term plans for the entire Wentworth Point Peninsula.
Joining the Mayor was Sydney Olympic Park Authority CEO, Alan Marsh; Toru Abe, CEO and Managing Director of Sekisui House Australia; PAYCE General Manager, Dominic Sullivan and project representatives.
JEWEL is being developed jointly by leading Australian property investment companies, PAYCE and Sekisui House Australia.

"The buildings are designed as three fingers reaching out to the water, casting a golden hue and allowing amazing views and light into the building," Mr Sullivan said.
The whole development covers an area of 10,430 square metres on the northern tip of Wentworth Point Peninsula. It includes 256 apartments and 4,300 square metres of mixed use retail on ground level known as 'Pierside', which will play host to restaurants, cafes and shops, a small supermarket and a childcare centre.
Mr Sullivan said when the project is due to be completed in 2017, it will become a community hub where people can live, eat, relax and enjoy life whilst interacting with their community.
"We will continue to work closely with Auburn City Council and the Sydney Olympic Park Authority to ensure that this project delivers the very best in urban and community living," he said.
