PAYCE EAST VILLAGE WINS MAJOR URBAN DEVELOPMENT AWARDS

2015 UDIA AWARDS ANNOUNCE EIGHT NOMINATIONS FOR PAYCE EXCELLENCE

Over 100 projects will fall beneath the discerning eye of judges with many of the winners deemed eligible to proceed to the Institute's national awards, decisions cover 15 Urban design categories.

The UDIA, this year celebrates 21 years acknowledging the best in urban development across NSW and the ACT, the prestigious annual awards are strongly contested by industry members from both the public and private sectors.

Four PAYCE projects have been announced as Finalists across the upcoming 2015 (UDIA) Urban Development Institute of Australia NSW Awards for Excellence, covering eight design categories and due to be announced in Sydney in August.


Announcing The 2015 UDIA Finalists ...

The follwing UDIA Finalist announcements came just days before PAYCE received the highest industry accolade at the 2015 Urban Taskforce Excellence Awards on 23rd July where PAYCE's East Village development took out the prestigious Development of the Year Award.

The four Finalist PAYCE projects this year at the UDIA NSW Awards for Excellence are Jewel, Royal Shores, East Village and Platinum. Below are the details for all of the PAYCE Finalist nominations.

Category 1: Concept Design

Category 3: Design and Innovation
– Royal Shores (Ermington)
Category 4: Marketing
– Royal Shores (Ermington) and East Village (Victoria Park)
Category 5: Retail/Commercial Development
– East Village (Victoria Park)
Category 6: Sustainable Development
– East Village (Victoria Park)
Category 10: Medium Density Development
– East Village (Victoria Park)
Category 11: High Density Development
– Platinum (Victoria Park)

Judging is currently underway for the 2015 Awards with the winners to be announced at a gala dinner in Sydney on Friday, 14 August 2015.

The projects announced as Finalists in this year's awards are a diverse mix of residential, commercial and mixed use developments of the highest quality, stated Mr Brian Boyd, PAYCE's Managing Director.

MAJOR WIN FOR EAST VILLAGE IN URBAN DEVELOPMENT AWARDS

The East Village developed by PAYCE at Victoria Park, Zetland continues to receive widespread praise and accolades, picked up its third major industry award in less than a month.

In Sydney recently, East Village was declared winner by UDIA judges taking the top honours in the 2015 Urban Development Institute of Australia's Award category for best Retail and Commercial Development in NSW and the ACT.


Satisfying all the requirements of a successful residential, retail and commercial development - East Village.

The Sky Park is known as one of the largest roof top gardens in the Southern Hemisphere. The latest award for the East Village project follows the top award in the Urban Taskforce Awards for Development of the Year as well as Best Project in the Architecture-Residential-Constructed category at the recent Sydney Design Awards.

Regarding The East Village Development - A word from The UDIA judging panel ...

In conclusion the judging panel stated: "East Village challenges the way we perceive zoning laws in Australia and hopefully it will act as a precedent for how to deliver retail developments that include light industrial and commercial components."

"The development addresses a need in the Victoria Park neighbourhood for a range of goods and services that are user-friendly, design responsive and environmentally sustainable, and East Village delivers on all fronts."

The UDIA (NSW) judging panel commented, stating that it was decidedly impressed with the East Village retail and commercial aspects.

"East Village a is bold, dynamic, well-executed and forward thinking concept. Integrating retail, cuisine, community uses as well as light industrial function into a rich tapestry of horizontality and verticality that categorically made it the winning entry," the panel said.

Mr Brian Boyd - PAYCE's Managing Director, stated "The project has been a completely successful team effort, delivering something significant to both residents and the community".

"Everyone associated with the project is so encouraged by the accolades East Village continues to receive, we are all extremely proud of what has been achieved," noted Mr Boyd.

Dominic Sullivan – East Village is a one of a kind development...

The awards were presented at a gala dinner attended by over 900 industry representatives in Sydney. East Village is now under consideration for the UDIA NSW and ACT President's Award to be announced on 2 September. Selected State winners will be entered into the UDIA National Awards for Excellence determined at the Institute's National Congress in Adelaide next year.

"This latest award adds to an increasing list of industry honours which the project has received from industry peers, ranging from design excellence, mixed-use architecture, innovation and sustainability to environmental initiatives," Mr Sullivan said.
